Meet Farfalla Manlikha: Your Whimsical Butterfly Spirit

Allow me to introduce you to Farfalla Manlikha, a whimsical spirit whose name is inspired by the iconic Italian farfalle pasta – lovingly known as “bow tie” or “butterfly” pasta. Just as “farfalle” means “butterflies” in Italian, I’ve lovingly incorporated both hand-sewn and embroidered butterfly and bow tie details across her head and body, reflecting her airy charm.

Her intricate form beautifully weaves together personal history and artistic discovery. The distinctive fabric shaping the sides of her head began as doodles from my “Inner Spark Series,” which I then had printed onto fabric and delicately cut to resemble ethereal butterfly wings. For her cheerful “tummy,” I’ve selected a vibrant floral silk, a cherished remnant from one of my favorite old blouses – a beloved piece my mother and I found together in Hong Kong during my teenage years. On her back, you’ll discover a beautifully woven fabric and a high-quality, bright orange canvas, adorned with hand-crocheted details that add a playful essence to her already radiant character.

Crafting Farfalla was a pure joy, and I poured so much fun into every stitch. It is my sincere hope that her unique presence will flutter into your home, bringing you as much happiness as I experienced in creating her.
