Meet Conchita Manlikha: Your Reminder to Trust the Journey

Allow me to introduce you to Conchita Manlikha, truly one of the most unique pieces I have ever had the joy of creating. Initially, I envisioned her as a delicate, butterfly-inspired figure, but Conchita, with her wonderfully strong spirit, simply wouldn’t listen! She clearly had her own magnificent plans.

As I continued sewing, she gracefully unfolded herself to me, much like a little shell revealing a hidden treasure. And what she revealed was her endearing “Makulit” personality. For those unfamiliar, “Makulit” in Tagalog beautifully captures a spirit that is persistent to the point of being playfully insistent or wonderfully active in a childlike way. It can describe someone who is charmingly stubborn or delightfully bothersome – a testament to her vibrant and determined nature!

Conchita, with her distinctive heart-shaped head and captivating gaze, became a profound reminder for me. She taught me to let go of expectations, to fully trust the organic flow of the creative process, and to truly believe that everything will unfold beautifully in its own time. She embodies the lesson that all things, eventually, fall perfectly into place.
